It’s also known as distance learning and is broadly inclusive of all forms of educational technology in learning and teaching. It’s also broadly synonymous with multimedia learning, technology – enhanced learning, computer – based instruction, computer – based training, computer – assisted instruction or computer – aided instruction, Internet – based training, web – based training, online education, virtual education, virtual learning environments, also known as learning platforms, m – learning and finally – digital educational collaboration. All these alternative names emphasize a particular aspect, component or delivery method. Distance learning degrees may includes different types of media that deliver audio, text, animation, images or streaming video. It also includes technology applications and such processes as audio or video tape and many others. Other possible is computer – based learning and besides – web – based learning. Distance learning degree

In 1960, the University of Illinois initiated a classroom system which was based in linked computer terminals where students could access informational resources on a particular course while listening to the lectures that were recorded via some form of remotely –linked device like television or also audio device. Again by this period of time – in the early 1960s, Stanford University psychology professors Richard Atkinson and Patrick Suppes experimented for the first time with use of the computers to teach math and reading to young children in elementary schools in East Palo Alto, California. Three years later Bernard Luskin installed the first computer in a community college for instruction, working together with Stanford and others, developed computer assisted instruction. Luskin completed his landmark UCLA dissertation working in associate with Rand Corporation in analyzing obstacles to computer assisted instruction in 1970. Educational institutions began to take advantage of the new medium by making offers distance learning courses using computer networking for information. These e –learning systems based on Computer – based learning often attempted to replicate autocratic teaching styles whereby the role of this kind learning system was assumed to be for transferring knowledge, as opposed to systems developed later based on Computer Supported Collaborative learning. Namely this program encouraged the shared development of knowledge. Distance learning degrees are very popular in our days and give a large number of advantages, connected with professional –prepared teachers and methods of studying. Today, almost 65 years after the start of this process, it is certainly one of the best ways to get education at a high level. There are many students who choose to study online independently of the expensive fees. The degrees they receive after finishing such kind of colleges and universities help a lot when they start to search well –paid jobs.
